Permits for side sewer excavation in the public right-of-way (ROW) in Seattle can only be issued to a Registered Side Sewer Contractor (RSSC). Registration qualifications for an RSSC are defined in SMC 21.16.060.

For excavation in other than a public ROW, a permit may be issued to the owner or occupant of the property, or agent thereof (see SMC 21.16.080).

A list of RSSC's who are allowed (and not allowed) to receive permits for work in the public ROW is available below. NOTE: This list does not represent a recommendation or an endorsement of any contractor by the City of Seattle. Also, this list may not be up-to-date, due to delays in processing changes. Please report any inaccuracies to DPD by phone at (206) 684-8860 or email the Administrator.
