About Director's Rules
Director's Rules are binding rules concerning land use, construction, housing, and other codes administered by DPD. They are adopted according to the Administrative Code of the City of Seattle (SMC Section 3.06.040), and are issued after public notice is published in the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce.

The numbering system for Director's Rules (DRs) is chronological, showing the number of the document and the year of its publication. For example, DR 24-88 means the 24th rule of 1988

The "final" Director's Rules available online are not signed by the DPD Director, but they do contain the official, approved text. If you need a signed copy, please call our Public Resource Center at (206) 684-8467.
Keeping Your Rules Up-to-date
Official legal notice regarding all DPD Director’s Rules is published in Seattle's Daily Journal of Commerce. Notice about land use rules is also published in DPD's Land Use Information bulletin. To receive an email alert when the Land Use Information bulletin is posted, or to receive a printed version in the mail, visit our Public Notices website.
