\nYou visited the vigil site on 29th Avenue, called and sent letters of sympathy and encouragement to the precinct, delivered food, coffee and flowers, offered space for gatherings, followed the media coverage of the investigation, phoned in numerous tips, watched or attended the Space Needle flag raising, procession and memorial service and breathed a collective sigh of relief after the arrest in Tukwila.
\nAs Chief Diaz mentioned several times following Halloween weekend, our Officers continued to provide quality public safety services during very difficult times. They were bolstered by all of your actions, thoughts and kind words.
\nSomething that is mentioned at nearly every community meeting, block-watch gathering and Precinct Advisory Council is the fact that we need your eyes and ears to help keep our community safe. What isn’t mentioned as often is that we also need your support during difficult times. The murder of Officer Tim Brenton was one of those times. You came forward with that support for which “thank you” seems inadequate.
\nWe look forward to continuing our partnership in making the neighborhoods and business districts of the East Precinct safe.
\nThank you,

On November 19th at approximately 10:41 a.m. officers responded to a two-vehicle versus pedestrian collision near Renton Avenue South and 62nd Avenue South. A white GMC pickup truck driven by a 43-year-old male was towing a black 1993 Toyota Camry driven by a 45-year-old male (a nylon rope was used as a tow cable). The two vehicles were traveling southeast on Renton Avenue South approaching 62nd Avenue South. At the same time a 44-year-old male pedestrian was crossing 62nd Avenue South in an unmarked crosswalk.
\nPreliminary investigation indicates that the driver of the GMC made a right turn onto 62nd Avenue South. The Camry did not make the turn and continued going straight. The pedestrian’s legs got caught on the towing rope, causing him to lose his footing. The pedestrian fell to the ground, striking his head on the pavement.
\nSFD Medics responded to the scene and transported the pedestrian victim to Harborview Medical Center with life-threatening injuries.
\nOfficers evaluated both drivers for signs of being under the influence of alcohol and/or drugs. No indications of impairment were detected in either driver. Both drivers were subsequently interviewed and released from the scene. Traffic Collision Investigation Squad detectives responded and continue to actively investigate.
\nThere were no citations issued at the scene, which is standard procedure in serious traffic collisions requiring extensive follow up investigation and collision reconstruction.

\nUpon officers arrival witnesses reported that a male suspect left the store via a broken window, carrying merchandise. A description of the suspect was broadcast over SPD radio and within minutes an officer located the suspect running near 15th Av and Spring St.
\nThe suspect was arrested and taken into custody without incident. The suspect was positively identified by 2 witnesses.
